Perhaps most importantly, tweens should be encouraged to listen to their skin. Any persistent rash, severe sunburn, or suspicious mole should be examined by a parent or a dermatologist. By integrating these practices, tweens learn that skin care is an integral part of their athletic discipline—as fundamental as proper stretching or hydration.
